We’re not sure why the duckling died. First we noticed that he/she was limping. Then we noticed that the other ducklings were growing about twice as fast as the limpy duck. So I separated her into her own container.
After a couple of days, the limp went away and her growth almost caught up with her siblings. I put her back in with the other ducklings and figured everything was going to be ok. And it was, for a while she did great. But then she stopped growing again. I got up one morning and the other duckings were towering over her. I separated them, but but evening she was clearly uncomfortable, and not interested in her food. By morning she was dead.
